We are steering clear of Moonee Valley and looking elsewhere, where luck won’t play such a big part.
We thought we would look at Sydney where we are excited about a young, up and coming horse.
We think the stable holds this in high regard and If it runs a good race here, we feel it will be set for a few group ones in the Autumn.
Randwick – Race 6 is where our focus is at today. Black Book it if it runs up to expectations. We think a lot of these have peaked - like Peltzer - who won’t get it as easy in front this time. So, we have gone for a couple of fresher horses with rapidly improving form and much better value.
2 PRIME STAR
6 REAL PEACE
We like Namazu. Very lightly raced. All over the shop in first race which was its assessment run for the stable and us. Why start a young horse over 1600 first up? Couldn’t handle Gosford or the wet, as it turned out. Great disguise run. Subsequent runs have been very sound, but the last win was top class albeit in weaker grade but showed excellent foot and was ultra-impressive. Love its time pattern as well and we think the continuation of Rachel King is a great move and she has positive ROI riding for Cummings. Might be too rich for him at this stage but we feel at 15s is way over the odds. As usual we aren’t scared to back our judgement, so we suggest 3 units.
Prime Star has been subject to really tough runs in its last couple, getting bumped and generally battered in both latest starts but has had the courage to still finish off at the end. A huge plus is that Tommy Berry will be riding again and we expect it to go awfully close. We like tough horses. Might be close to a spell but looks to us like it has one more in it and this is ideal. 2 Units.
Real Peace has similar lead ups to Namazu, but we think Namazu shows more potential. We like Tom Sherry and expect it to run well. Clarrie Connors has improved his average over the carnival, and this might be another good one he has. In our opinion has similar campaign to our top rated but we think it doesn’t have the same upside at this stage. 1 Unit.
Acrophobic is another one that has had some buffeting in recent starts. Also fought on well but we aren’t quite as sure that it has another tough run in it. If it does then it goes close. If not will be just outside them. Only prepared to risk 1 unit on this one.
Good luck if you’re having a flutter today. Enjoy your day of racing and sport, and as always, please gamble responsibly.
