Very Open racing today everywhere, but we have chosen R7 Trentham in NZ for our best value. It’s not the best race in the world in terms of quality, but we can safely bet on our top rated horses and profit whichever wins. That is always our modus operandi. Also, we like to involve our overseas subscribers by featuring their countries racing, when we can. This is going to be a tough slog and the key is the track will be good and most of these prefer the sting out. So we think there are few real chances given that scenario. Also, we think the favourite is way under the odds.
We have them in order of:
8 LA MIA SIRENA 2 units
5 MISS SHER NAN 1 unit
6 PLATINUM SPIRIT 1 unit
7 WEE DRAM 1 Unit
LA MIA SIRENA Last start was never meant to win. 3 Wide bumped and fought on very well. Was only in the race to top it off for this. Lightly raced strong horse likes good tracks, jockey ideal. Very few negatives probably leads or sits just off them and should be too strong.
MISS SHER NAN More seasoned that a lot of these. Handles conditions and can race reasonably handy, or lead. Pretty fair sort of a horse. The Dams sire leaves some doubt as to how it will go in the last 100 metres but will give a sight and handles good tracks.
PLATINUM SPIRIT. Great run last start. Has reasonable form around it lightly raced and has been around it is good suited by the track and we think has the ability to win at longer odds. Should get a great run here. Only negative is that the regular jockey has changed to ride our top rated. Still the replacement is sound enough. Tough horse with good form around it. Can sit just off them.
WEE DRAM Could be the surprise packet. Lightly raced. Jockey suits. Knocked around in running last couple so form is better than looks. Likely to get back slightly but good enough to rum over them at the end.
So, we have 2 on pacers and 2 that come from further back, just as we like it. We have staked it so that we will profit whichever of the horses likened horses win. No need to risk a lot to make a good percentage here.
We are also doing our save on the favourite tactic. By standing out the #3 No Compromise. We think is well under the odds. It is favourite based on its unlucky last start. We’ve seen it all before. Nonetheless it was a good run and is a lightly raced improver, but we think the track conditions may not favour but we can stand it out in a quinella/ exacta with the other rated horses for .5 of a unit in total. And if it surprises, we are still covered. Profit always in mind.
