Oaks Day - @ppracingtips Race of the Day

Hi Punters,

We have chosen Race 7 at Flemington as our race of the day; mainly because we can’t believe the odds on our favoured runners and with these odds, we won’t need much to win big! That said, they still have to win first! There are a lot of older horses in this race that are lightly raced so from an analysing point of view, it is a bit different, and needs a slightly different approach. But if everything goes to plan Polanco is the best horse in the race. Luck will play a big part in this one but we believe ours will make their own luck so we should have the edge.

1 POLANCO - 3 Units

3 EASY BEAST - 2 Units

8 VUNGERS - 1 Unit

10 PIERRO BELLE - 1 Unit

12 Indiana Lily - 0.25 Unit

Polanco won the lead up race for this at Geelong and it looks the best lead up run. Tough last start with 61kgs and if it’s a firm track, it will enable it to lead and get into a rhythm. Much better on the pace. Jye McNeil has a great record riding for Shea Eden so we think they’ll be going forward at the start. We’ve liked its campaign, a tough horse, and way over the odds for us. Don’t think McNeil will have any trouble judging the pace!

Easy Beast is another on pacer. Well suited by a firm track, and Pike is a great choice as a jockey. If they push on to try and lead, we’re not sure if it will see out 1600, but if they take a seat and save for one run, it’ll will be a big danger.

Vungers is suited by track conditions and is running its best distance. Runs well third up. Should be some pace in this race so should sit just off them and is a very tough horse late. Came through same race as Polanco so if the weight stops Polanco, this could be the one. Comes into this with fresh legs and residue fitness from last campaign. Good hope.

Pierro Belle is third up today, in which it runs relatively well in. Impressed by first up run over unsuitable distance. Smiley Chan could be another eclectic type of trainer. Hasn’t had many starters to date but like the way he has brought this one on. Lightly raced for a five year old, good track suits and form around it is solid. Only doubt is whether it is up to the class.

Indiana Lily is the stablemate of Polanca, and we are always wary when the trainer has two in a race. and at its best is capable of pulling this race off. For a tiny amount we can save on this one.
